The OPA Annual Tahlil – 2023 was successfully held on the night of Thur, 24 Aug 2023 at the Penthouse, OPA Building, Saujana Resort. The aim of the OPA Annual Tahlil was for the OPA to remember our fellow OPs who are no longer with us, over the years. Present were 32 OPs, members and non-members of OPA and five wives. 30 or so OPs have left us this year. 2023.
The OPA President, OP Baharudin bin Mahyuddin, (F Coy; 1977-1979), the OPA Honorary Secretary I, OP Zulkhibri bin Mohammed, (G Coy; 1987-1991) and four other OPA Committee Members were present. The most senior OP present was OP Mohd Salleh bin Mohd Nor, (G Coy; 1957-1961) followed by OP Tajudin bin Yahya, (A/B Coy; 1960-1963). Also present was OP Hariharan Muniandy, (H Coy; 2014-2015) who joined the dinner. There were no guests present nor were the Present Puteras invited for the night.
Those attending the Majlis Tahlil started to arrive at 1830 hours to meet each other, to acquaint anew and to be updated on the latest news on each other. A few other OPs arrived after the Solat Magrib, coming from their office.
At 1922 hours the Solat Magrib was held, ably led by OP Zulkhibri, our OPA Honorary Secretary 1. This was followed by the Bacaan Yasin, the Tahlil and the Solat Isha, also led by OP Zulkhibri.
In his address to the OPs present, OP Baharudin, the OPA President thanked the OPs and the wives for their attendance and to the OPA Secretariat for organising the event. He informed them that this was his last attendance as the OPA President, since he would be completing his three 2-year terms as the OPA President after the coming Annual General Meeting and could no longer continue as the OPA President, as stipulated in the OP Constitution. He looked forward the attendance of more OPs during the coming OPA Annual General Meeting and the OPA Annual Dinner to be held on Sat, 2 Sep 2023.
After the Isha prayer, it was dinner time and time to continue the cerita-cerita. The menu was Nasi Arab with Chicken Mandi, Lamb Mandi and assorted vegetables. It was not until 2300 hours or so, that the few OPs who stayed on left the Penthouse. The Committee Members also adjourned for their meeting related to the OPA Annual Dinner.
All in all, it was another successful event organised by the OPA, although the attendance was small since it was held on a weekday, bringing OPs of various intakes, young and old together to remember our OPs who are no longer with us.
Thank you to all who attended, to the OPA President and the OPA Committee and to OP Omar Shariff bin Md Sani, (E Coy; 1987-1991), the OPA General Manager and his staff in organising the event, and to OP Zulkhibri for leading the Solat Magrib, the Bacaan Yasin, the Tahlil and the Solat Isya.
