OP FRANK BELTRAN’S JOURNEY TO REGAINING HIS LIFE AFTER STROKE

Frank suffered from a stroke 5 years ago. He had physical problems such as numbness, weakness in the arms and legs, and trouble with walking, vision, swallowing, talking, or understanding. Here’s his stroke journey story:

“In 2017, I had a stroke. Since then, I have had trouble speaking and understanding what others are saying. I am always confused and have difficulty understanding speech.

Everyone who knows me knows that I love to run, and I will go to Bukit Gasing for hiking every morning. After years of being physically active, it was uncomfortable experiencing extreme tiredness or fatigue in the first few weeks after a stroke. Sometimes I have trouble walking and may stumble or lose my balance.

But I believe there is life and hope. After the stroke, my family and, of course, my fellow OP, who I can call brothers, have helped me by giving their love and support to rebuild my strength, spirit and confidence.

RMC has taught me to be disciplined and not to give up. I will continue to fight. Health and happiness depend upon the fighting spirit of each person. The more important thing is not what happens to us in life–but how we handle and react towards it.

Lastly, to all my family and fellow OPs, thank you for all the love and support. I feel I have made progress in regaining strength, and I will continue to fight. I am very grateful.”
