OPA Career Guidance 2026: No OP Left Behind
Wednesday, 8th April 2026
More than 30 young OP Valours (SPM 2025), some accompanied by their parents, gathered at the OPA Penthouse for the inaugural OPA Career Guidance 2026 session.
The programme was initiated by the Old Putera Association (OPA) in collaboration with RMC and PIBG RMC, with the presence of RMC staff and PIBG representatives, to guide and support the boys after SPM.
The session was facilitated by OP Kiwi (Hon. Secretary 1), who opened by reminding the boys of the spirit of the late OP Tun Ling Liong Sik, one grounded in resilience, discipline, and a lifelong responsibility to the OPA community.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by OP Azmizam Zaman Huri, mantan YDP PIBG RMC, who emphasised the importance of being resourceful and working hard, noting that these values will shape and guarantee success in the future.

OP Zulkhibri Mohammed, Vice President of OPA, anchored the session with a simple but clear perspective:
“Success is not how high you rise, but how high you bounce when you hit bottom.”

Dr. Nursham, former Head of Science of RMC, shared a structured view on the TVET pathway and the opportunities available beyond conventional routes to study abroad.

OP Shamsul Afif, Honorary Treasurer of OPA, shared practical pathways through the Westports Apprenticeship Programme for vessel planning, highlighting opportunities for early industry exposure.

The session concluded with a Q&A where the questions raised were direct and purposeful, reflecting a group that is actively thinking about their next steps.
The young OPs also expressed their intention to move forward with clarity and to give back to the OPA community, reflecting the support and guidance extended to them through this session.
OPA Career Guidance 2026 marks the beginning of a more structured effort to support OPs at the start of their journey as part of the OPA community.
