The OPA Merdeka Eve Run proudly continued its tradition this year, with more than 60 runners taking part. From atok to babies, OPs and their families laced up together to celebrate the nation’s independence.
The evening kicked off with an energising warm-up session led by a Decathlon ultramarathon podium athlete, setting the tone for the night. In true patriotic spirit, all participants then stood together to sing Negaraku.
The run was officially flagged off by OP Azmi (Coy, Year), representing our veteran OPs who once stood on the frontline for Malaysia’s independence — a symbolic passing of the torch from past to present generations.

A special thank you goes to our running partner, Decathlon, for supporting the event and generously providing goodies for all participants — coordinated by OP Siddiq (Coy, Year).
After completing the 8KM run, runners and supporters enjoyed a hearty supper together, before gathering at midnight in front of the iconic OPA Building to usher in Merdeka with a spectacular fireworks display.
