Old Putera (OP) Syarif Nurhidayat Bin Muzhaimey is a Malaysian rugby player who has been widely recognized for his talent and leadership skills in the sport. Born on July 18, 1990, in Petaling Jaya, OP Syarif’s passion for rugby started at a young age and has only grown stronger as he matured and gained more experience. With a strong educational background comprising various institutions, OP Syarif has demonstrated his commitment to both his academic and athletic pursuits.
OP Syarif’s rugby career has been nothing short of extraordinary, with his leadership and exceptional skills on the field making him a key contributor to the teams he has played for. Notably, the Malaysia Rugby Team appointed OP Syarif as captain for the game South Korea in the Asia Rugby Championship 2024. This high-profile role speaks volumes about OP Syarif’s abilities as a rugby player and a leader, as it is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and commitment to the sport.
OP Syarif began his rugby career as the captain of the Putrajaya Agong Cup Rugby Team, which he led to tremendous success, emerging as champions in 2022 and runners-up in 2023. His experience playing for the Putrajaya Agong Cup Rugby Team helped him develop his leadership qualities, which proved to be instrumental in his subsequent role as captain of the PPTD Patriots Rugby Team, where he helped lead the team to the Runners Up in Corporate League 2023
In addition to excelling in rugby on the field, OP Syarif has also shown a keen interest in coaching and developing young rugby players in his local community. He has been coaching the OPA Black Scorpion Rugby Team for the past five years, committing his time and rugby knowledge to the new generation of rugby players. Under his guidance, the team managed to obtain 3rd place in the Bowl category in the Selangor Rugby League, a testament to his excellent leadership and coaching abilities.
OP Syarif has been an inspiration to young rugby players in his community, serving as a role model both on and off the field. His outstanding personality and leadership qualities are evident both inside and outside the field, truly upholding the RMC motto of ‘Serve to Lead.’ OP Syarif’s commitment to his educational and athletic pursuits, coupled with his unwavering determination and passion, make him an exemplary role model for young people looking to succeed in any field.
