OPA HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI OPEN HOUSE

22 MAY 2023

The “OPA Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House – 2023” was successfully held on Sat, 20 May 2023 at the OPA Building premise, Saujana Resort from 1100 to 1500 hours. 200 or so OPs, members and non-members of OPA, came to the Open House; some with their wives and children. Altogether there were about 400 or so who came. Most of the OPs were from the 1980s and 1990s intakes. The older and the young OPs were significantly absent. So were the presence of the Non-Muslim OPs and their families.

The OPA President, OP Baharuddin bin Mahyuddin, (F Coy; 1977-1979) and OPA Committee Members, some with their wives, were present to receive the arrivals of the OPs and their families. Amongst the OPs who came were OP Mohd Radzi bin Sheikh Ahmad, (F Coy; 1957-1960), Chairman FMC PD (1952-1961) group, OP Azmizam bin Zaman Huri, (A Coy; 1986-1990), ADUN Port Klang and OP Mohd Termidzi bin Junaidi (E Coy; 1968-1971), OPA President (2009-2013). Among the invited guests who came were Encik Rashid bin Jamaluddin, the new RMC Director of Studies and Lt Kol Rashidane bin Razdzi Rasalingam, the new RMC Director of Training. 30 Present Puteras (all in Form 4) were also present. Also present were former RMC teachers, invited by the OPs.

Those attending started to arrive spot on at 1100 hours to meet each other, to acquaint anew and to enjoy the Hari Raya makan. By 1200 hours nearly all the tables were occupied. OPs and their families started to trickle in after 1200 hours and the last group came at about 1500 hours. It was really a hot day on that day but at 1600 hours, the rain fell till 1700 hours.

The Open House was organized by the OPA and hosted by a number of intakes sponsoring the food and other OPs making their contributions by intakes or individually. We trust this will be more than enough to cater for the expenses for the occasion.

There were plenty of food laid out – Kueh Teow Goreng in situ, Nasi Briyani with Ayam Masak Merah, Lemang with Rendang Daging, Kambing Golek, Laksa Penang, Apam Balik in situ and assortment of cakes. For drinks there were cordial drinks, Nescafe Tarik, Cendol and mineral water.

The RAMD Combo was also present to provide the music for the occasion.

The area to park the cars were full and OPs had to park their cars quite some distance away but a buggy was available to ferry the OPs and their families from where they parked their cars to the venue.

The event was organized by the OPA Hari Raya Sub-Committee with OP Rozaidie bin Mustaffa, (A Coy; 1993-1994) as Chairman with other members.

Our OP Che Aris bin Che Deraman (B Coy; 1977-1979) and his son were officially engaged by the OPA to take the photographs during the day. The photographs taken will be made available soonest for all OPs to view via the link to be advised.

All in all, it was another successful event organised by the OPA, bringing a good number of OPs of various intakes, young and old, together over a festive occasion. Thank you to all who attended; to the intakes who sponsored the food and to the OP intakes/individuals who contributed to the cost for the occasion. Thank you to OP Rozaidie bin Mustaffa, (A Coy; 1993- 1994), Chairman of the OPA Raya Open House Sub-Committee and his fellow members for successfully organising the event.

We look forward to the next major OPA activity – the OPA Annual Dinner – 2023, to be held on the date and venue to be notified. Till then, keep supporting the OPA and its activities. – Serve to Lead !
